OLD-GROWTH MAPPING

WHY IT'S IMPORTANT

Old-growth cover serves as an inspirational touchstone, seedbank, excellent wildlife habitat, carbon sink, and green infrastructure.

WHAT IS OLD-GROWTH COVER?

Is it a collection of large trees? It is not. Old-growth cover refers to the vegetated cover of a given area that has existed as a functioning ecosystem for a long period of time. It can include shinneries, forests, prairies, and wetlands.

We will be adding characteristics to help you identify your old-growth cover. Until then, feel free to send us photos.

Once we acquire the funding, we will come to your property to assess the condition, age, and extent of your old-growth. If your cover is confirmed to be bona-fide old-growth, you will receive a certification and a placemark on our map.
