Instead of fighting nature with short-term fixes, we need to work with nature to achieve long-term solutions.
But FIRST, we need to accept that mountain cedars are part of the solution.

WHAT IS KARST COUNTRY?
Karst country consists of mostly limestone bedrock + very shallow soils.
Since limestone bedrock dissolves easily, it forms a complex network of karst features such as caves, sinkholes, springs, outcroppings, and aquifers as rain+carbon moves deep into the ground. The Edwards Plateau is the largest, continuous karst country in Texas. The eastern part of the plateau, called the Hill Country, contains one of the most prolific artesian aquifers in the world: the Edwards Aquifer. |
What are nature-based solutions?
Nature-based solutions are solutions that mimic or use Mother Nature's elements, designs, and processes to regenerate and sustain productivity, diversity, and resilience. |
What does it mean to regenerate?
The word regenerate is used instead of the word restore when the goal is to reestablish working natural and human ecosystems. |
